The director of “King Richard,” Reinaldo Marcus Green, has confirmed that a film about reggae legend Bob Marley is in the works. The documentary will focus on the creation of Bob Marley’s album “Exodus.” Marley, a pioneer of the reggae genre and the founder of one of the most influential bands of all time, Bob Marley and The Wailers, was instrumental in educating the world about Jamaican culture. He was also known for being an outspoken supporter of democratic and social reform, expressing his political views through music. Despite his celebrity and popularity, a major, big-budget film about his life has never been made. Green is currently working on a script with Zach Baylin, who he worked with on “King Richard,” and it is rumoured that Bob Marley’s eldest son, Ziggy Marley, is producing and overseeing the project. Green said that Ziggy Marley, who is also the project’s producer, is his contact for the film, and that he and Baylin expect to have a completed script soon. He stated that the film will begin in 1976, after Marley survived an assassination attempt and relocated to London to record his ninth studio album, “Exodus.” Green claims that the film project already owns the rights to some of Marley’s music.
